"World records in swimming have been falling at an alarming rate this year. In the early months of 2008, 37 world records have been smashed, 18 of them at one meeting in the UK in April.
Is this suspicious?
Observers say not necessarily: it's an Olympic year, when world records are often broken as athletes gear up for the medal chances.
There is a doping connection, only it's not drugs. This time, the accusations are of 'technological doping'--and this involves polyurethane.
Of the 37 records beaten by swimmers since Speedo's latest super-speedy LZR swimsuit arrived in mid-February, 55 were by athletes wearing this suit.
