Bhubaneswar -- Christmas, which is usually an occasion of joy and festivity, was the setting for carnage and destruction for thousands of Christians in the district of Orissa. According to the Archbishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, thousands of Christians fled their homes, churches, convents, and shops when armed mobs of fundamentalist Indians professing an extremist and intolerant Hindutva ideology of hate and violence against Christianity rampaged in the towns and villages of Kandhamal District in Orissa during Christmas week.
