More than [pounds sterling]4,000 was raised at an open day event at Brownbread Horse Rescue Centre in Ashburnham on Sunday.
So many people came to the event, which was in aid of the centre, that organisers had to open up the hay field as a car park.
There were many attractions to keep residents and visitors entertained including a bouncy castle, demonstrations from Diana Friedman's School of Dancing, performances by the Mayo Belly Dancers, raffle and tombola, and a display of birds-of-prey such as owls and buzzards.
