A Prescot councillor has made an official complaint about the behaviour of council chiefs in the run-up to the local elections.
Liberal Democrat leader Coun Ian Smith has written to Knowsley Council's solicitor complaining that on April 18 the council posted thousands of leaflets outlining the Labour Party's Building Schools for the Future project.
Coun Smith claims this deliberately breached purdah - an agreement by government and councils to suspend making policy announcements before elections - by sending leaflets in the month before election night.
