"Beep Jeep!" my son Steven shouts from the back seat as he punches his brother Ben in the arm. "Ow!" Ben yells, then responds with a loud, "Hey! Slug bug!" and slugs Steven back.
The boys are 13 and 14, with long arms and legs jutting all over the back seat. They see no need to corral their limbs, and 9-year-old Jenny, who is a third their size, often gets caught in the crossfire of their strange games.
Given the choice, this is not what I would have chosen as a family tradition. Perhaps a little song that we all sing in four-part harmony as we get into the car, that would be nice, or a ritual of ...
