Anja Muller-Wood's stimulating book focuses narrowly and intensely on four plays: The Duchess of Malfi, The Atheist's Tragedy, Bussy D'Ambois, and Women Beware Women. She does not explain why she chose these plays rather than others. Generally the studies treat the plays in isolation from each other, from biography, from other plays, and from history.
