Shandong Dongming Petrochem Group (formerly Shandong Dongming Petroleum Group), a traditional refining company with a small scale, announced on April 8th that its new 60 000 t/a ionic membrane caustic soda project conducted wet commissioning in its Dongming site, Shandong province of eastern China. The old portfolio of Dongming Petrochem includes gasoline, gasohol, propylene, acrylic resin and other petroleum based chemicals. In order to avoid the risk of petroleum shortage, the company made in 2005 the decision of beginning the chlor-alkali business that based on crude salt and calcium carbide (CCR 2006 No.2).
