THE trade winds are blowing against the Irish economy, steering thecountry further away from the heady days of the Celtic Tiger, new data shows.
The value of Irish exports slumped by 15pc to E7.09bn in March of this yearcompared to the same month in 2007 while imports fell by 12pc year-on-year, thelatest report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows.
This is evidence that Ireland is being hit from two directions: our tradingpartners are taking less Irish goods because of a global slowdown andunfavourable currencies while consumers here are tightening their belts andbuying less.
