Limba is one of many woods in the world that go by several different names. Larry Frye, executive director of the Fine Hardwoods/american Walnut Assn., said it is most often known in the United States by its commercial name korina, (occasionally spelled corina). But around the world, it is referred to as afara or limba.
Its host of names includes light afara, light limba, limba clair, limba blanc (or plain, light wood), dark limba, dark afara, limba noir, limba bariole (for the figured heartwood), offram, ofram, frake, and akom.
