The European Union's foreign ministers expressed, on 26 May, "serious concern about the recent series of events that have raised tensions between Georgia and Russia". They underlined the Union's full commitment to Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and urged both sides to "calm down public rhetoric and abstain from provocations".
"We are very seriously concerned about the relations between Russia and Georgia," Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenia's foreign minister, told journalists at a press conference after chairing a meeting with his EU counterparts.
