A THEORY OF PERSONALISM. By Thomas R. Rourke and Rosita A. Chazarreta Rourke. Lanham, Md.: Lexington, 2005. Pp. xii + 217. $75.

The title is rather tame, but the work is aggressive. Thomas Rourke (his wife, Rosita Chzarreta Rourke, collaborated on the final chapter) chairs the political science department at Pennsylvania's Clarion University. He also is a student of Catholic theology, a former Catholic Worker, and a frequent traveler to the poorest regions of Latin America. He has written a well-researched and well-organized polemic.
