THE UK's pioneering obesity scientists have picked Birmingham for their latest child "fat camps"
because of the city's notorious expanding waistline.
The Department of Health has backed the camps run by Prof Paul Gately, of ITV's Too Fat To Toddle and The Duchess of Hull.
Prof Gately has lowered the age minimum from 11 to eight to help tackle Brummies' growing problem.
Karen Saunders, Midland senior public health manager for the Department of Health, said: "This kind of programme can play an important role in the fight against the growing tide of childhood obesity.
