I am writing on behalf of Filipino nurses who are currently working in New Zealand as health care assistants (HCAs) or in other health fields. A story in the April issue of Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand (NZNO wants support for Pacific nurses, p7) and another in the Press newspaper, (1) stated that Pacific-trained nurses did not require the English language test, [International English Language Testing System Ed], to get registered here in New Zealand as long as they trained in English. Our congratulations to our colleagues from Samoa and Tonga.
Education in my country is taught in English, from nursery, kindergarten, elementary and high school, right up to getting a degree ...
