Nursing Council challenges position on Pacific nurses.(NEWS AND EVENTS)

The Nursing Council has decided to reinstate the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as an assessment of English language Skills for Pacific-trained nurses. The Council has also decided to retain IELTS for all other overseas-trained nurses.

The Council, at its meeting early this month, decided to reinstate IELTS for Pacific-trained nurses because there was evidence some had failed it, chief executive Marion Clark said. The Council had to be sure that it met its requirements under the Health Practitioners' Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act.
