HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1996--With the sailing of the MV Mahimahi on February 9 from Oakland, California, Matson Navigation Company has launched its Pacific Alliance Service.
The Mahimahi's on-time departure from San Francisco Bay, saluted by a fireboat escort, also marked the inauguration of Matson's Guam-Micronesia Service. Matson President and Chief Executive Officer C. Bradley Mulholland commemorated the milestone in Matson's history at a small gathering in San Francisco, with the company's Guest of Honor, Guam Governor Carl T.C.
