May 30--Voters will head for the polls Tuesday for local primary elections, which decide a party's nominee for the general election in November.
The biggest race in the area is for the Iowa Senate seat to represent District 48 -- Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Montgomery, Ringgold, Taylor and Union counties. Sen. Jeff Angelo, R-Creston, has chosen not to run again.
Two Republicans will vie for their party's nomination in the election: Jim Parker of Grant, near Villisca and Kim Reynolds of Osceola.
Three candidates are on the Democrats' ballots: Matt Brown of Thayer, Ruth Smith of Lamoni and Kevin Wynn of Corning.
