The Mayor of Doncaster has been expelled from the Labour Party.
Councillor Martin Winter was expelled after refusing to return to Labour's ranks following his defection to set up an independent group.
A Yorkshire and Humberside Labour Party spokesman said Mr Winter had failed to register as a member of Doncaster Labour Group, which was a "clear breach of Labour Party rules".
He said the matter had now been referred to Labour's Constitutional Officer and confirmed Mr Winter had been "auto-expelled" from the party for breaching the rules.
