Article: News & Record, Greensboro, N.C., Savvy Shopper column: Neglecting to plan your funeral can cost you in the end.(Column)

Byline: Lanita Withers

Jun. 1--Most consumers put a lot of research and evaluation into their most expensive purchases -- a home, a vehicle, a college education.

But that often falls apart when it comes to planning a funeral, an expense that can easily cost thousands of dollars.

A group could soon be formed in the area to help people who want to make better end-of-life plans.

The Funeral Consumers Alliance is a nonprofit organization with a mission to inform, educate and advocate to and for people facing end-of-life issues. North Carolina has chapters in the Triangle, Wilmington, Asheville and Charlotte.
