HAVING decided there is no point hanging around for a peace deal with Syria, Shimon Peres is bringing forward Israel's election from late October to May 28th. Well he may: opinion polls show him and his Labour Party 12-20 points ahead of his Likud rival, Binyamin Netanyahu.
