Article: Business leaders seeks optional installation of electronic cash register.

Dhaka, June 1 (UNB) - Business leaders on Sunday strongly opposed the government decision to install electronic cash register as mandatory in medium and wholesale shops and sought to make it optional.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman faced the resistance and resentment of the business community to the decision that all medium and wholesale shops should install electronic cash register as mandatory from July 1.

The shop owners said the government should rationalize the gross profit determination system. Presently it is 30-35 per cent that seems to businessmen as irrational to businesses.
