MP Nick Herbert has called for a 'zero tolerance' approach to knife crime after a spate of violent incidents across the country.
The Arundel and South Downs MP called for tough action including prison sentences, if necessary, to tackle the growing trend of young people carrying knives on Radio 4's Any Questions programme on Friday evening.
One of the questions put to the panel at St Andrew's parish church in Rugby was from the Reverend Mark Beach who had led the funeral service of Kevin Wright in the church earlier that day.
Mr Wright, 20, died from stab wounds and Rev Beach asked what local people could do to create a safer community.
