Air fares head north as carriers hike fuel surcharge

Mumbai, June 2 (PTI) With public sector oil firms increasing Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices by 18.5 per cent, major air-carriers have raised fuel surcharge with effect from tomorrow, making air travel costlier.

While national air-carrier Air India announced its decision to hike fuel surcharge on Saturday, other carriers announced their hikes today.

Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Deccan are among the major air-carriers who have already effected a hike in fuel surcharge.
