The Practical RA article "RAs Increase Productivity" (March/April issue) was an interesting article that leaves me with more questions than answers.
This is truly a small sample size, with average procedure rates of 2.6 to 4 per day. That is a slow morning at most average facilities. I would think that and the lack of previous study of the effects of the RA on the radiology department are a direct result of the low numbers of RAs currently in practice.
The supervision required should be taken into account as well. We know that it took an average 25.52 minutes to perform an exam. How much of that time was the radiologist present? I don't see tunneled ...
