As noted in the November/December 2006 RE: Registry column, the ARRT entered into a collaborative arrangement with the Society for Imaging Informatics (SIIM) to develop a certification mechanism for imaging informatics professionals (aka, PACS [picture archiving and communications system] administrators) in September 2006. At the time of that column, many of the details had not been finalized.
The ultimate result of the collaboration is a new, independent certification organization: the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII). ABII's mission is to enhance patient care, professionalism and competence in imaging informatics. Imaging informatics professionals (IIPs) need ...
