THE FIRST TIME Shereen Lena's son went to war, she lost sleep, gained weight, cried, went on Xanax and deliberately avoided the national news.
"I was a mess," she said.
The second time her son went to war, she did it all over again -- except this time she watched TV reports from Iraq. And now? The third time?
"I'm beyond all that," says Lena, 41. "I'm angry now. I am absolutely livid."
Her oldest son, Jeremy Hemingway, is 22 now, a man who's twice seen fighting in Iraq. But he was just 18 when he joined the U.S. Army without telling his parents.
That was a rough spot in their lives, to be sure, and the Army was perhaps the lesser ...
