A GOLFING father and son fought a tooth and nail battle for a title ultimately decided by a winning margin of less than one stroke.
Brian Slater (jnr) teamed up with Robbie Dixon and Chris and Lynn Newnham in Leighton Golf Club's Mixed Texas Scramble competition, and mastered the wet and the wind to return a gross score of 68, reduced to 55.58 following their handicap allowance of 12.15.
Dad Brian (snr) teamed up with wife Val and Paul and Carol Flello to return a gross 71, which after the reduction of their handicap allowance of 14.25, gave them a nett 56.75 and runners-up spot.
