NEW YORK--Upright vacuum cleaner manufacturers are exploring strategies to improve margins in the category. With low-end prices for uprights hitting consistent retails between $49 and $59, and with average retails often dipping below $100 for a fully featured hard sided unit, the pressure is on manufacturers to remain profitably competitive.
"Vacuum cleaners have done a better job of fighting inflation than probably any other category," said John Hoppe, vice president of marketing for Eureka.
