DENVER, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Cyprus Amax Minerals Company (NYSE: CYM) today announced three significant developments in its coal business:
* Acquisition of a 50 percent interest in the Springvale coal mine in New South Wales, Australia, further strengthening the Company's position in growing Pacific Rim coal markets;
* Construction of the new Willow Creek coal mine in Utah beginning; and
* Acquisition of rights to 24 million tons of coal reserves in northwestern Colorado for the highly-productive Twentymile mine in northwestern Colorado.
