Last minute 'super delegate' surge helps Obama tame Clinton

Washington, June 4 (PTI) Super delegates, an informal term commonly used for some of the senior delegates to the Democratic Party National Convention, played a crucial role to swing the electoral fortunes of Barack Obama in his epic presidential nomination contest against Hillary Clinton.

After months of resisting pressure to take sides, super delegates from Missouri, New York, Ohio and elsewhere across the US fell into line behind black-American Obama yesterday to swing his historic but bitter battle against Clinton, the 60-year-old former first lady.
