The Council adopted, on 30 May, a regulation establishing a Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Technology Initiative (JTI). Under the plans, the European Commission will provide 470 million from the Seventh Framework Programme for six years. This should "at least" be matched by industry contributions. The first calls for proposals are expected after the summer and the official launch will be at the JTI stakeholders' General Assembly in October.aPrior to the Council decision, the European Parliament, on 20 May, approved a consultative report by Pia Elda Locatelli (PES, Italy).
