A HAYLING war relic saved by a [pounds sterling]318,000 grant from English Heritage, and which is a protected ancient monument, was formally unveiled in April.
The Gun Site at Sinah Common formed part of Portsmouth's air defences during the World War Two, but over recent years, the land the gun emplacements are sited on has become increasingly unstable because of erosion.
There were fears that the site could even slide into a nearby sand and gravel quarry lake.
However, the massive grant has saved the site and councillor Frank Pearce, who has spent over a decade trying to get the site restored, hopes that eventually an original anti-aircraft gun can be found and ...
