Woody Allen's "Mighty Aphrodite" (Miramax) might not succeed in rescuing a disappointing season, but it has lots of entertaining moments. Woody's neuroticism may be wearing thin, but he has invented a comic Greek chorus to comment on his problems and a scene-stealing part for Mia Scorvino as a porn-movie actress named Linda Ash.
Woody plays Lenny Winerib, a sportswriter married to Amanda (Helena Bonham Carter), a pretentious art gallery manager. She's considerably younger. They squabble a lot. Even without the chorus warning, "Please, Lenny, don't be a schmuck!" you'd know Amanda's sudden desire to adopt a baby boy is going to create further problems.
