Sulzer Pumps has received a large order from Alstom Power for pumps to be installed in the new Medupi coal fired power station, being built for Eskom, the South African national generator.
The order includes a total of 48 pumps for boiler feed, booster, and condensate extraction duties. In addition to the manufacturing of the pumps, Sulzer s scope encompasses the full project management of the pump modules, including the related equipment, such as motors and couplings. The power station, the country s first green field project in 20 years, will have an ultimate generating capacity of 4 790 megawatt.
