It is rocket science.

Literally.

About 350 local middle and high school students built 70 rockets that will be blasting into the sky Saturday during the sixth annual CNY Rocket Team Challenge at Syracuse University.

The rockets are up to 6 feet tall and 4 inches in diameter. They can go 300 mph. A parachute helps them to drift safely back to Earth. If all goes well, an egg inside the rocket, called the "eggstronaut," makes the round trip intact.

Because the rockets can fly up to 700 feet, the project had to get clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration.
