It seems like everyone wants to court music fans from emerging majorities. American pop stars put out Spanish language albums and songs--from mega-stars such as Beyonce to children's performer Dan Zanes. Now entertainment and media companies are developing Web products for emerging majorities.
It's a logical step--not only because music is a strong part of cultural identity, but also because emerging majorities are seeking out music online. For example, 55% of Latinos listen to music online, compared to 41% of the general population, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.
