ABSTRACT
This study examines the current state of health insurance in India and the need to make it effective given the enormity of the problem facing the people of the country and the government. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the government of India through its various policies and measures is encouraging the setting up an effective health care framework in which health insurance plays a vital role.
