If you can't get users to come on their own to your search services, there's always the lure of cash. That's what Microsoft is now resorting to in hopes of getting more users to its Live Search service, which is trailing behind market leader Google as well as Yahoo, a company that Microsoft is desperately trying to bring into its fold.
On Wednesday, at its annual ad event Microsoft rolled out a new program called Live Search cashback that promises to pay users who find and buy products via its search service. Consumers are supposed to get their rebates directly from Microsoft 60 days after completing the purchase.
