Redmond left 'relieved' as legal fight ends

Corruption charges dropped nine years on

George Redmond was said to be "happy and relieved" last night after a corruption charge against him was dropped.

The Director of Public Prosecutions yesterday told the High Court that the State would not be pursuing the case against the 83-year-old.

The Irish Independent revealed last month the DPP was to drop their case against the former Dublin assistant county manager.

It came after Mr Redmond, who is now retired, was found not guilty of one charge of corruptly accepting [pounds sterling]10,000 from Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Dunne.
