US Reforming Iraq Prisons.

As a further step towards Iraqi sovereignty, the US is incorporating the American-run detention system into its larger counter-insurgency strategy before handing its prisons in Iraq over to the government. In reforming its prisons in Iraq, the US is also seeking to help the Baghdad government develop a system of detention and rehabilitation of prisoners with the aim of curbing terrorism throughout the country. In parallel, the US is working on a genuine national reconciliation process to end sectarianism and ethnic discrimination.
