The nerves starting pitcher Patrick Rydeen felt in the first inning came back strong in the seventh inning as his Stillwater baseball team prepared to eliminate Woodbury in the Class 3A, Section 4 championship game.
A wild seventh inning on Tuesday night resulted in Stillwater's defense unraveling with two outs and allowing a 2-1 lead to become a 4-2 loss.
But Wednesday night at Midway Stadium, Rydeen set the Royals down, preserving a 3-1 victory and putting Stillwater in the state tournament for the first time since 2001.
