SEAN Cavanagh has admitted his surprise selection at full-forward was a tactic which probably back-fired against Down on Sunday.
In the absence of a target man due to Owen Mulligan's injury, Tyrone started with Cavanagh on the edge of the square and initially the experiment seemed to be paying off.
The three-time All-Star midfielder scored an 18th minute goal and laid off the ball for a Colm McCullagh point in a slick passing move straight off the training ground.
