A woman says former Overture Center director Robert D'Angelo, convicted in February on federal fraud charges, raped and physically assaulted her in 1998 when she was 19 after promising to help her career, according to newly released Madison police records.

The woman, now 29, also told the Wisconsin State Journal in a sworn statement that D'Angelo assaulted her again in 2001.

D'Angelo's attorney, Stephen Hurley of Madison, issued a blanket denial of the charge last month.

"The allegations which you set forth are false and defamatory," Hurley said in an e-mail.
