Mountains were visible all around us as the plane stopped in front of an airport about the size of a family-style chain restaurant.
As soon as I got off the plane, it was obvious the air in Luang Prabang, Laos, was different from that of Vietnam, where I had just spent the first three weeks of March.
In Vietnam, diesel exhaust from motorbikes and trucks seemed to permeate everything. But inhaling this sweet air and looking at the ancient, lush mountains, I knew I was going to love Laos.
