PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Protogene Laboratories, Inc. announced today that it sold its rapidly growing custom DNA synthesis service to its marketing partner, Life Technologies, Inc. (LTI) (Nasdaq: LTEK) of Gaithersburg, MD. As part of the transaction, Protogene split out a new research company to develop new applications of the company's DNA manipulation and parallel array synthesis technologies.
The parallel array synthesis technology was developed by Dr. Thomas Brennan and others at Stanford University's Human Genome Center. The development of the instrument at Stanford was supported by a Human Genome Program grant from the Department of Energy.
