Article: Protaras boasts world's biggest beach towel.

THE WORLD'S largest beach towel was unveiled in Protaras on Sunday, securing a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Covering a total distance of 1,990 square metres, the towel measures 64.2 metres in length and is 31 metres wide.

It took the efforts of 40 people to lay down the 1,055kg beast onto the white sands of Fig Tree Bay, under the watchful eye of a Guinness representative.

The event was organised by Aeolos Travel and bookcyprus.com, in co-operation with Paralimni Municipality.
