CIMA Fellow Ian Malcolm is chiselling away at the very bed rock of the arts and mysteries of financial management with his research on `Benchmarking Finance Function Activities' (see Management Accounting, February 1995); which is why the Institute attaches importance to the news that his work has just received wider recognition by winning one of the 1995 Accountancy Age awards.
Ian Malcolm's research into financial benchmarking has been conducted for an MSc with the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. The fact that it has secured him the award for the `most useful piece of business research' is further evidence of its significance.
