How well does your finance department perform? (researching to financial benchmarking wins award)

Research undertaken by Ian Malcolm, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), into financial benchmarking has received a 1995 Accountancy Age award. Benchmarking, in which the performance of an organisation is measured against that of other organisations, is now becoming increasingly recognised as a vital tool in allowing organisations to maintain their competitiveness.
