A new range of Carry On stamps has been labelled "a joke" by collectors.

Royal Mail thought philatelists would lick their lips at the new postage stamps, which have been launched by Carry On actress Barbara Windsor to mark 50 years of the saucy comedies.

But some stamp enthusiasts have said the brand just will not stick because they will be "worthless" in the future.

They are also concerned stamp collecting is a dying hobby because post offices often use franking machines instead of traditional stamps.

Barrie Winckley, from Rushden Philatelic Society, said: "From a philatelist's point of view, Carry On stamps are just a joke.
