Article: EU offer Israel-Syria peace talks support.(European Union)

The European Union has said it is willing to help formulate an economic package as part of the basis of a peace accord between Israel, Syria and Lebanon. The statement was made following a meeting between Prime Minister Shimon Peres and several EU representatives, including the vice president of the European Commission, Manuel Marin.

Marin said that the EU preferred offering incentives to Syria to proceed with the peace talks as part of the Barcelona talks rather than via a peace treaty brokered by the U.S.
