CALDERDALE head teachers are defiant over the Government's threat to close under-performing schools.
Five district secondaries - Halifax High, Todmorden High, Park Lane High, St Catherine's and The Ridings - are on a Government hit list because less than 30 per cent of pupils got five good GCSEs, including English and maths, last year.
Calderdale Council now has until the end of summer term to come up with an action plan for each school.
Head of Halifax High Jeremy Waxman said the school, on 29 per cent last year, would sail past the 30 per cent Government target this year.
