SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 1996--The tobacco industry has been using freedom of information laws as a tactic in its strategy to disrupt activities of public health agencies seeking to reduce tobacco use, according to a UCSF study published in an international journal.
The study appears in the Winter 1995 issue of Tobacco Control, a quarterly journal published by the British Medical Association.
"Public health professionals must be aware of this tobacco industry ploy to undermine public health," says senior author Stanton A. Glantz, PhD, UCSF professor of medicine and researcher at the UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies.
